In order to promote active research in Dravidian Studies by inviting Senior Scholars and Young Researchers all over the country and abroad, Dravidian University has recently formulated different schemes. They include Chairs of Excellence, Senior Fellowships in the cadre of a Professor, Fellowships in the cadre of Associate Professor and Associate Fellowships in the cadre of Assistant Professor and Fellowships to Visiting Scholars from India and abroad. The details are:
Senior Fellowships
- Bishop Caldwell’s Chair for Dravidian Studies
- C.P.Brown’s Chair for Telugu Studies
- Kittel Chair for Kannada Studies
- Constantine Beschie Chair for Tamil Studies
Fellowships
- Kandukuri Veeresalingam Fellow for Socio-Cultural Studies
- Gidugu Ramamurthi Fellow for Language Studies
- Kattamanchi Ramalinga Reddy Fellow for Literary Criticism
- Sarvepalli Radhakrishna Fellow for Philosophy and Culture
- Chittoor Nagaiah Fellow for Theatre and Performing Arts.
Associate Fellowships
These fellowships are for Young researchers of the country working in any aspect of Dravidian Studies. Priority is given to those who are working on Dravidology.
All the above fellowships are normally given initially for two years, based on the previous experience and the merits of the project undertaken.
Visiting Fellowships to Indian Scholars/Writers
It will be given to any scholar/writer to complete his/her research project in the peaceful, picturesque environment of the University campus.
The fellowship covers the travel cost and allowances for 15 to 45 days on the campus.
Visiting Fellowships to Foreign Scholars
These fellowships are given for 45 to 90 days to foreign scholars visiting India for their study/research work related to Dravidian Language and Cultures.
In case the foreign scholars who wish to learn Dravidian languages or take up fresh research, a special fellowship of Rs.6000/- will be given for a period of 6 months to 2 years.
Awards
International Level Publication in English
- Either published by an international agency or enjoined international acclaim.
- Related any aspect of Dravidian Language, Culture, History, Philosophy etc.
- Award includes a cash prize of Rs.25,000/- and ceremonial puraskara in a befitting function.
National level Best Publications (one each) in
Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Tulu and English with comparative perspectives involving at least any two of Dravidian languages/cultures. Award carries a cash prize of Rs.20,000/- and a ceremonial puraskar.
Publication Assistance
In order to promote research in Dravidian Studies, the University extends financial assistance for publication of research work in any aspect of Dravidian Studies in any Dravidian Language, to the tune of ¾ of the total cost of the publication.
