The Department of Commerce and Management was started in the academic year 2002-2003 with the modest introduction of 3 year Under Graduate courses in Commerce and Business Management (B.Com & B.B.M).  The Department successfully completed instruction to the first two batches of both the courses in the years 2005-06 and 2006-07 respectively.

Most of the students graduated in these courses got inducted into diverse organisations at different levels of employment.  Presently the Department is headed by One permanent faculty in the cadre of Associate Professor and Six lecturers on contract. 

The present student strength in B.B.M. in the academic year 2007-08 for first, second and third year is 40, 44, 37 respectively totaling to 121.  First year B.Com in the same academic year is discontinued and in its place 5 year M.Com Integrated semester course is introduced with strength of 59 in the first semester during June to November, 2007.  With regard to B.Com first and third years the strength in the academic year is 38 and 41 respectively totaling to 79.  The total strength of the department all courses put together is 259. 

The department follows the model syllabi proposed by the State Council of Higher Education.  As regards 5 year M.Com Integrated course, the State Council syllabi is followed for the first 3 years and in the remaining 2 years the syllabi is prepared on the Job Market requirements and social relevance,   making the course more dynamic, challenging and industry suited. 

In addition, the department is also poised to introduce for the first time among the Universities in the Andhra Pradesh, a prestigious 5 year Integrated programme in Business Management (M.B.A).

The department is being run with superior skills and knowledge of competent and dynamic staff with Commerce and Management background.  The faculty of Commerce and Management has been rechristened recently as School of Commerce and Management with a full time in-charge Dean.

The School is also all set to introduce full time and part time Ph.d programme in Commerce and Management from the academic year 2008-09.  The school is equipped with a spacious Computer Lab with more than 60 computer systems, 3 Servers, 2 AC plant, printers, Scanners along with sufficient furniture and infrastructure.  The department is heading towards desirable goals with continuous monitoring of students’ attendance, regular class work and conduct of Syllabus within the stipulated time.
