About The Department :

The Department of Statistics was established during the academic year 2006-2007 with 5-year integrated M.Sc.(Statistics and Computer Applications) course. The course content contains foundation subjects in Statistics and subjects related to Computer Applications. The department specializes in the fields of Stochastic Process, Statistical Inference, Operations Research, Sampling Techniques etc. The department has been updating the syllabus periodically keeping in mind the rapid changes taking place in Science and Technology. As a part of this, the department has recently brought out radical changes in the syllabus by introducing Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).

The students of this department have bright employment opportunities as statistical officers, consultant statisticians, Business Analysts, software development personnel, Field officers in several government, private and public sector organizations in addition to teaching and research institutions. At present, the department is being run with academic consultants. Many of the experienced faculty from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati are being invited to deliver guest lectures in the department. The department is offering some subjects as external electives for the students of other departments of Dravidian University. This department is presently offering the following Programme.
