I. History of the School of Education and HRD
The School of Education has started in the year 2003 with the three fold aims i.e., Teaching & Training, Research and Extension as envisaged by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi. At present, the School of Education is located in Harappa building in Dravidian University Campus, Srinivasa Vanam, Kuppam. Two professional teacher education courses have been started, namely, one-year B.Ed course and one-year Telugu Pandits Training course (TPT) from the academic year 2003-04. In the year 2006-07, the M.Ed course has been started with an intake 25 students. All these courses have been recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Apart from these academic courses, the School of Education is offering M.Phil and Ph.D programmes in Education, both full-time and part-time.

VI. Number of Books, Journals, Equipments etc.,
The School of Education & HRD has good number of books related to Education, Educational Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, Technology, Special Education, School Management, Adult and Non-Formal Education, Research Methodology and Statistics.
The School Library has 15 glass almeras to display the books and other related materials. The school has good physical infrastructure facilities with 8 class rooms and 4 laboratories (Psychology, Biological Science, Physical Science, Social Science) apart from a good Computer Laboratory with 40 Computers. The staffs are provided with individual rooms with personnel computers and adequate furniture.
VII. Future Plans and Programmes of School of Education and HRD
Orientation Programmes and Conferences to be organized:
The School of Education & HRD is organizing the following Orientation Programmes to the
teachers working at Primary and Secondary levels.
- A Two Day Orientation Programme for Primary School Teachers on ‘Disabilities in Children’ (28th and 29th October 2007)
- A Two Day Orientation Programme for Primary School Teachers on ‘Quality Improvement in Primary Education’ (December 2007)
- A Two Day Orientation Programme on ‘Development of Communicative Skills in English for Secondary School Teachers’ (January 2008)
- The School of Education & HRD is organizing a National Conference on ‘Disability Studies as an Academic Discipline: Problems and Prospects in Indian Scenario’, in collaboration with Society for Disability and Rehabilitation Studies, New Delhi during the mid March 2008.
The Departments and Centers under the School of Education & HRD will function in collaborative manner to deliver the goods required for planned community development. Each Department and the Center shall be complimentary to the other Department / Center activities to achieve the objectives of the School of Education & HRD, i.e. Teaching, Research, Training and Extension in an integrated manner. It is our hope that within five years the School of Education & HRD will transform itself into a School of Advanced Studies in Education and Research to achieve the three-fold Dimensions specified by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi. |
