Under the auspices of the Department of English and Communications ISECS is established by the University.

The Institute was started to help the students to meet their goals quickly and effectively. The Intensive English Program offers a variety of courses and uses the latest ELT teaching techniques. The Courses have 5 levels of proficiency from basic to advanced and students attend class for 20 hours a week. Class size is small with an average of 20-25 students.

The ISECS believes that the best way for students to learn English is by taking responsibility for their own learning process. As a result, ISECS classes teach students both knowledge of English and learning strategies for acquiring the different skills they need. Some of the skills that the Intensive English Program can help students develop are:

Formal Presentations, Research Papers , Note taking strategies, Conversational English – both listening and speaking, Reading, Letter Writing, Strategies for Listening to TV, Radio, Movies, Computer skills such as Power - Point, Pronunciation, Correct grammar usage in speaking and writing, Vocabulary development.

At all levels the institute emphasizes:
Meaningful communication, learning by doing real-life tasks, integration of skills such as reading/writing, listening/speaking or reading/speaking. Students have to participate in a wide range of activities in class that provides them with an interesting and meaningful experience. Class activities often include: Watching video, Field trips, Pair and small group discussion, Role plays.

These courses offered by the Institute aim to provide the students with valuable, practical experience-based training. After completing the course the students will feel that they can be confident and that they have acquired the required skills that are needed to become a professional in any discipline.

· The Department organized a state level programme ‘Train the Trainer’, a training programme for the English lecturers working in various colleges of the state.  ·Organized a series of Lectures by Prof. Indranath Chowdary on  Comparative Literature.
