           The 21st Century Gurukulam ( 21CG) is a new educational program designed to provide enhanced opportunities for gifted rural youth of Andhra Pradesh. A 21CG is envisioned as a self-sustaining, self-governing, and self-supporting community, modeled after the ancient Gurukulam and the modern-day Kibbutz. Its primary purpose is to provide remedial education and IT training leading to a postgraduate degree in IT for the current top 1% of the rural youth.

Mission :
     
      The goal of the 21CGs is to identify and empower the gifted rural youth to achieve their full potential.Rural youth even though they may be gifted and have high IQ do not succeed in national competitive exams because most such exams require facility in English, verbal, quantitative and analytical skills that they have never been taught.21CG is an attempt to overcome all these problems by making the selection based on local best rather than national best criteria.

      As an initial goal, we aspire to establish, by the year 2020, residential high schools covering 10% of the rural youth, undergraduate residential colleges for 5% of the rural youth, and post graduate residential institutes for the top 1% of the rural youth. As a first step, in 2006, we propose to establish 21CG Post-Graduate IT Academies. It is our expectation that the graduates of the PG Program will have Master.s Degrees in IT, thereby guaranteeing options that are currently denied to them.

Specialties of the Program PGDIT:

Unique Learning-by-Doing paradigm of education using personalized mentors and Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS) Technology.

The Variable Duration Method - The nominal expected time of completion could be shorter or longer, depending on the individual abilities of a student.

As we believe in the learning by doing method, we have successfully cultured the fun environment in the group activities like seminars, discussions and presentations,

Programming and gaming contests.   

The workshops by trained soft skills trainers instills confidence, nurtures team spirit, and sportsmanship qualities and encourages the hidden talents

The course content will be designed by the researchers in Carnegie Mellon University USA and it will be updated to bridge the gap.

At present we have 29 students seniors (batch 2006-2007) and 40 students Juniors (2007-2008 batch)  in the Emenue house Dravidian University.
