Aims and Objectives
·       To teach Malayalam to students of the University who are desirous to learn the language as part of its ‘EKATA’ programme.
·       To teach Malayalam at various levels
·       To conduct Research programmes leading to the award of PhD, MPhil in Malayalam
·       To undertake Research projects on Malyalam literature, language, culture and people.
·       To promote translation programmes from Malayalam to sister Dravidia n language and vice versa.
·       To conduct the special translation workshops training young scholars in the art of translation.
·       To develop machine translation techniques concerning Malayalam and other languages.
·       To plan and distribute various publications in Malayalam language.
Courses Offered
1.     M.A 5-year Integrated Course in Malayalam.
            This is being offered at the Regional Centre of Dravidian University at Vallathol Vidya Peetham, Edappal, Kerala. The 5-year Integrated Course thus is introduced for the first time in Kerala.
2.     Other 5-year Integrated Courses in Malayalam medium.
             The 5-year Integrated programme is also offered in a few more subjects like, History, Economics, Communications etc. at Edappal Centre.
3.     Mphil/PhD programme
            This is offered both at the University main campus, Kuppam and the Regional Centre at Edappal.
