The Department of Physical Education was established on  28-06-2007 and Dr. S. Kareemulla was appointed as Deputy Director on the same day. Mr. T. Naveen Kumar was working as Physical Instructor from 20-12-2004.

All India Inter University Ball Badminton Tournament (Women)
Dravidian University for the first time conducted  All India Inter University Women Tournament from 05-02-2007 to 09-02-2007. 49 University teams participated. The tournament was inaugurated by Sri N. Jaya Rami Reddy, I.P.S., Deputy Inspector General of Police, Anantapur Range, Anantapur on 05-02-2007. Prof. G. Lakshminarayana,  Vice-Chancellor, Dravidian University, presided over the function and Prof. P. Chinnappa Reddy Advisor, Govt. of A.P. Sports and Physical Education delivered the Keynote address.
The Tournament was conducted on knock-out cum league basis and the four teams qualified from the tournament are 1. Anna University  2. M.G. University 3. Tumkur University 4. Manglore University. Among the four teams Anna University, Chennai emerged as CHAMPION of the All India Inter University Ball Badminton Women Tournament.

The University prepared size courts by spending lacks of rupees for the conduct of the tournament. In addition to the courts new galleries were constructed. All the National Standards were implemented in the preparation of new courts. Fifteen umpires certified by the Ball-Badminton Federation of India were invited.

The arrangements including boarding were provided in very hygienic conditions.
A newly constructed Mega building named ‘Harappa Bhavan’ was allotted for the stay of the players. Emeneau House provided hygienic  food. Decent water supply round the clock and pure drinking water arranged at various places in the campus.

Sports Committee
The sports Committee comprising Dr. P. Chinnappa Reddy , Sports Advisor, Government of Andhra Pradesh and Dr. Ch. Prasad Babu, Director and Head, Department of Physical Education, S.V. University, Tirupati visited the sports infrastructure on our invitation on 10.02.2007 and satisfied with the infrastructure recommended to construct a Sports Stadium in front of the lake.

South Zone Kabaddi (Men) Team Participation

  University Kabaddi (Men) Team participated in Dharward University from 27-09-06 to 01-10-06 for the first time.
